HW for Wed 9/4--Stats

Read the pages on Statistics--691-699. It covers all the basics that you need to know about stats that you need for this course. I will have some practice work for you in class. Check the comments from the previous blog for some hints on dealing with stats. I will post some more here. In terms of content:
  • descriptive stats
  • inferential stats
  • measures of central tendency
  • normal curve
  • standard deviation
  • graphing stats
  • correlation--more detail

Remember that Stats are simply a way for researchers to quantify and understand the results from the research that they do.

A great website overall:

it has links to so many wonderful psych web sites

Ok....
so this statisitical stuff isnt going in my brains...especially since im mathamatically brainless.
i get the mean meian and mode thing, and i get the bell curve thingy with the numbers and stuff, but what is this about dividing thru the standard deviation?
So like i kinda get it...but i dont cuz like as soon as we take that test on wensday i'll b like....what?
1st off, wats standard deviation in normal ppl words?
like it was all like "to find the deviational scor we take the deviation of each score from the mean and square it...."
DUUDE! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT THAT IS IF THEY GIVE A DEFINITION OF THE WORD IN THE CONTEXT!?!?!?!?!?!

RAAAWWWWWRRRR!!!!
THIS IS GETTING ME MAD
CUZ I DONT UNDERSTAND WAT THEY WANA TELL ME.
